About Hanoi:

Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, is a vibrant city where centuries of history and cultural heritage meet modern economic development and technological innovation. Located in northern Vietnam, Hanoi is renowned for its historic Old Quarter, picturesque Hoan Kiem Lake, traditional architecture, and world-famous Vietnamese cuisine. As one of the country’s major centres for education, research, business, and innovation, Hanoi provides an ideal setting for ICBAP2027. Visitors can explore iconic attractions such as the Temple of Literature, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, while experiencing the city’s unique blend of tradition and modernity. With its welcoming atmosphere, rich cultural experiences, and growing international connectivity, Hanoi promises an inspiring and memorable experience for conference participants.

Coming to Hanoi

Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, is easily accessible from major international destinations through Noi Bai International Airport (HAN), located approximately 25–30 km north of the city centre. The airport offers international connections to major cities across Asia and beyond, with additional destinations accessible through connecting flights. Travellers can reach central Hanoi from the airport by taxi, airport shuttle, public bus, or private transfer, with journeys typically taking 30–60 minutes, depending on traffic conditions. International visitors are advised to check Vietnam’s visa requirements before travelling, as eligibility for visa exemptions and electronic visas (e-visas) varies by nationality. Hanoi also has domestic air, rail, and road connections to other major destinations throughout Vietnam, making it a convenient gateway for exploring the country.

Staying at Hanoi

Hanoi offers a wide range of accommodation options to suit different preferences and budgets, from international luxury hotels and boutique properties to affordable guesthouses and serviced apartments. Popular areas to stay include the Old Quarter, known for its lively atmosphere, historic streets, restaurants, and cultural attractions; the Hoan Kiem District, offering convenient access to the city centre and Hoan Kiem Lake; and Ba Dinh District, a quieter area close to important landmarks and government institutions. Visitors seeking modern hotels and business facilities may also consider the Tay Ho (West Lake) area, known for its lakeside setting, international restaurants, and relaxed atmosphere. Most hotels provide amenities such as air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and airport transfer services. Visitors are encouraged to book accommodation in advance, particularly during busy travel periods, and to consider proximity to their planned activities when choosing where to stay.

Weather in Hanoi in August

August in Hanoi is characterised by a tropical summer climate, with warm temperatures, high humidity, and frequent rainfall. Daytime temperatures typically range from 30°C to 34°C, while evenings remain warm at around 25°C to 27°C. As August falls within Vietnam’s rainy season, visitors can expect occasional heavy showers and thunderstorms, particularly in the afternoon or evening. Despite the rainfall, there are often periods of sunshine, providing opportunities to explore Hanoi’s historic landmarks, cultural attractions, and vibrant streets. Visitors are advised to bring lightweight, breathable clothing, an umbrella or raincoat, and comfortable footwear. Most hotels, restaurants, and public facilities are air-conditioned, offering a welcome escape from the summer heat and humidity.

Tours and Sightseeing in Hanoi and Vietnam

Hanoi and its surrounding regions offer a wide variety of exciting tours and sightseeing opportunities, allowing visitors to discover Vietnam’s rich cultural heritage, breathtaking landscapes, and vibrant local traditions. Within Hanoi, popular guided tours include exploring the historic Old Quarter, visiting Hoan Kiem Lake, the Temple of Literature, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long, as well as enjoying traditional water puppet performances and authentic Vietnamese street food experiences. Beyond the capital, visitors can take day trips to Ninh Binh, famous for its spectacular limestone mountains, scenic rivers, and ancient temples, or explore the UNESCO-listed Ha Long Bay, renowned for its emerald waters and dramatic limestone islands, through cruises and guided excursions. For those wishing to travel further, destinations such as Sapa, with its terraced rice fields and mountain landscapes, offer memorable cultural and nature-based experiences. A wide range of organised tours, private excursions, and customised travel packages is available to suit different interests, schedules, and budgets.
